Cushion Pushin' With J.D. Vance
A vicious rumor persists in a sea of otherwise detestably true quotes
It says something about the tension if not high stakes in the U.S. right now, when major media not only publish the fact check about something that has come to light in a historic American Presidential campaign, but then remove the same from their site altogether (we all saw you, AP).
Namely, a joke that got its start as a viral Twitter post on July 15, asserted (falsely) that J.D. Vance admitted having sex with a couch – and even quoted the page on which the allegation had supposedly been made.
This in turn, led to a widely popular viral explosion of fun on all the usual social media channels. Here are a few examples.

The explosion of memes then prompted an investigation by AP entitled “No, J.D. Vance did not have sex with a couch.”
To make this even more amusing, AP then removed the story, which of course, became an even bigger story in and of itself. Particularly because it is also true that no outlet can of course firmly deny the story.
Fame is such a double-edged sword.
Other True Detestable Quotes
J.D. Vance’s verbal diarrhea is already proving to be as meme worthy as Kamala Harris’ real (and impressive accomplishments). Including when he bashes her (and others like her.)
Here are detestable quotes that are absolutely true.
1. The US is “effectively run” by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives,” He named now Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris, current Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. “The entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children, and how does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it.”
For the record, Harris is stepmother to her husband’s children, Buttigieg is the father of two, and OCR still has many childbearing years ahead of her if she so chooses to breed.
2. Abortion is akin to slavery. A podcast interview with the Catholic Current. As per below.
3. J.D. Vance repeatedly indicated that he believed that Donald Trump had committed sexual assault in October 2016 on an MSNBC segment.
4. Was previously well known at the State Department during his tenure as a senator for using his ideological leanings to hold up appointees needing congressional approval. Namely, a questionnaire he drafted was sent to about 30 high ranking foreign diplomats awaiting Senate confirmation, including ambassadors, about various diversity issues according to a leaked memo by the Washington Post, and as republished by the Advocate. The questionnaire specifically asked questions about issues like how a nominee would implement Gay Pride Month celebrations or implement gender neutral bathrooms.
